I wanted to tell forum users about my very exciting, forthcoming year of study in Hungary.
Since being introduced to the Kodaly approach to music education by Cyrilla on the CT course, it has become the most important aspect of my musical life and I have decided to take a year away from my work and go to the Kodaly Institute in Hungary to study the approach intensively. I have also been invited by one of the schools in which I teach to take over the running of the music in the infant department using the Kodaly methodology when I return in September next year. This is of course a hugely exciting prospect for me. I want to sing the praises of the Associated Board for the development of the CT ABRSM course. It was directly as a result of this course that I discovered Cyrilla (the best Kodaly teacher around in my opinion) and of course Kodaly. Like all Ronseal wood products, the CT course does exactly what it says on the tin.......in other words it takes you where you are at as a music teacher and develops you and this was certainly the case with me. I would urge all music teachers to consider participating on this course because it will change you and your teaching forever and for the better (and you might get to meet Cyrilla too!). I will be logging onto the forums from time to time and if anybody is interested in what happens on my course then I would be very happy to let you know. I leave in September. |

My piano teacher did that last year; she's just back (and I've already been to one of her new improved Kodaly classes). Think she enjoyed it!

Deeply envious, I cant just shoot off to Hungrary for a year (kids schooling, hubby's job) but this sounds an amazing opportunity. Do make the most of it and enjoy.
