Not a lot. Played a concert this afternoon with my music group and thanks to a cold gale blowing there were just 10 in the audience! They all seemed to enjoy it and nobody left before we finished (one and a quarter hours). We played, and sang, reasonably well and have a one hour concert with the same (shortened) programme next week so can only hope for better weather this time to encourage them to come.

A happy ending (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
This morning, as I chucked my face flannel into a wash basin full of hot water, I was alarmed to see a mediuim sized house spider (which had apparently been in my flannel) now floating dismally in the water. I scooped him out in my hand and let the water drain away, but he appeared broken and hardly moving. I transferred him - as carefully as possible - to a dry sheet of tissue, but he remained still. I felt that any attempt to dry him off (e.g. with Mrs Mole's hair drier) would be more likely to break him further. So I left him to dry naturally on top of the piano, but without much hope. half an hour later he was still there. Judge of my delight when I noticed a couple of hours later that he was gone! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Hopefully he has now found a new home in the piano. Mole (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I went to a Chinese buffet for lunch (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
I'm glad the spider was okay, PianissiMole (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) And you, for that matter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Imagine if it had still been in your flannel! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

I'm not a great spider fan, but I never kill them (I like to think they are eating all the other insects I don't like). As long as they keep their distance I'm happy to share the house with them, although I do have to evict (or pretend to evict) any large ones discovered by Mrs Mole or Miss Mole. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Indeed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) We have five tiny spiders on our sitting room ceiling. We're too lazy to put them outside, but my sister spends her days casting wary glances in their general direction. Always a heartwarmer! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) Proper deep fried onion rings too... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You can always feel your arteries clog up just by looking at 'em, but it's hard to resist, eh? How are you then, Barry? I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the Chester day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I've been extremely busy with uni apps and everything lately, because I have to reapply! |

No worries, re Chester. Can you make the woodwind playday at the Royal Northern on 30th Jan next year? Oboists get in half price! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) There's a thread in Viva Woodwind about it (East London Clarinet Choir Woodwind Playdays). Good luck with the uni applications! I'm going to the RNCM Woodwind Weekend on Sunday to speak with some of the people at the stalls about schemes to get an oboe, so it should be good. And thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) I've got an unconditional offer from MMU, and I'm waiting on replies from University of Manchester, and an interview date for Cambridge. All very nerve-wracking! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) |
