David seems to have removed himself from the forum - not just deregistered but had all his posts removed as well.

I'm very sorry to see this. He was one of the longest-standing members - over 6 years. Perhaps he felt that he shouldn't post under his own name any more.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) If you're reading this David, I hope you'll come back with another name as your contributions were valued. And if somebody would let me know if he's OK, I'd appreciate it....

I'm sorry not to see David here too, as I always valued his contributions.

I hope he will find a way to come back.

David is still around in the world, and I'm still in touch with him.

He's asked me to post, in brief terms, his reasons for departure.

There are a couple of reasons : he's been concerned for some while that the supportive atmosphere of the teachers' forum (in particular) has been eroded, and he's received some thoroughly unpleasant messages both here and through other means from a forum source, for some while : and this was beginning to have an effect on his business. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

If you read this (as I think you will, David) : there's an awful lot of people here in forum-land that are going to miss your contributions greatly : and I'm sure lots of other forumites will be joining me in wishing you all the best for the future, and that maybe you'll come back sometime to share your experiences with us.

Quite.

This is why Bag and I were so furious earlier in the week. David has been on the receiving end of vile bullying on this forum for some time now. It now seems that one person in particular has been targetting him through his website - and, as Baz says, this is now having a detrimental effect on his livelihood. He has actually managed to discover who it is and I hope that he is going to both advise the board of this and take legal action too.

So David felt he had no option but to totally remove himself and his posts from the forum.

I have never been able to understand why some people are so sick that they have to get their kicks from hurting others - especially people they've never met.

Very angry about the whole thing.

I still regard myself to be a fairly new member to the Forums but even in this short space of time I got to appreciate David's contributions. His posts have always been worth reading, exhibiting a range of musical knowledge, insight and not a little wit; in fact, the wisdom that one accrues from experience, of years of teaching, dealing with and assessing the material of his craft.

I wish him well; a fellow from my neck of the woods, to boot.

Following up words from C & Baz, I too can't really express just how SICKENED I am by the details of this attack on a thoroughly decent, inoffensive chap like David. I sincerely hope he will get legal advice on the matter.

Your contributions will be missed, David, and I wish you a successful future.
