Virtuoso Group: Members Posts: 2544 Joined: 12-October 07 Member No.: 17801	Hi Everyone Last year I treated myself to a years subscription of "Pianist", it comes every 2 months and I have really enjoyed it. I have received a letter letting me know that my next magazine will be my last so offering for me to renew my subscription. Before I renewed I wondered if anyone else had any other suggestions for piano magazines as it may nice to try a change. ET

Unregistered	Do they have copies of piano magazines in your central library that you can have a browse through? Our main library has copies of lots of magazines - although they've cut back a lot on the subscriptions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 7 Joined: 7-November 08 Member No.: 44244	I agree with rovikered, Rhinegold's 'Piano' Magazine is the best, latest news in the piano world coupled with teaching materials such as technique and insights to piano such as the machanism of piano keys etc. I'm subscribing to 'Classical Music' also by rhinegold. hope this helps cheers

If I could get a subscription, I would choose Pianist over the others any day - although the articles are fascinating in 'Piano' and 'International Pianist', for me it is the fact the 'Pianist' has articles of interest in addition to articles from leading individuals on technique, how to tackle a particular problem that crops up in a certain composers' works (for example), how to approach the LH fingering in this piece, different ways to use the pedal to improve colour on that piece, notes on repertoire, choice of pieces when putting recitals together, venue reviews - lots of things that directly relate to the active pianist and that are not just of interest, but can also be applied to your own playing ... like a monthly masterclass packed with extras! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I do enjoy it and get very excited when it arrives on the door step. I love the CD and the sheet music that you receive free with it as well as all the articles. Its like everything really, it's just nice to know if there is something better out there. So thanks Cadence, you have read all of them and advised that you prefer The Pianist. ET

Pianist is good, but many of the pieces in the sheet music section are standard popular repertoire that many of us already have. Piano magazine seems to be consistently good, they used to sell it in Chappells but now it looks like i'll have to subscribe to it.

I just got the April-May issue to read for myself, and for something completely unrelated, I was talking to someone about advertising in it the other day. I'm not sure they would have continued this conversation if it was being discontinued? A far as I'm aware, the only difference is that it has been taken over by Rhinegold.

ET Hadn't heard about 'The Pianist'....am looking it up now !! I subscribe to Piano and I also subscribe free to the BBC Music Magazine using clubcard vouchers from a very large supermarket beginning with 'T' !?! This is a monthly magazine which comes witha CD. I often carry them around with me for the odd 5 minutes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ...along with my theory books.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 393 Joined: 2-April 07 Member No.: 10486	Well that's good news then about International piano, there was some delay though i think, and i was told in Borders by one of their staff after a computer check, that it did'nt look like it was available at the moment.... and by the chap who works in a classical record shop in Great Marlborough street that there were some problems with IP... as they usually sell it there.
