I want to take G4 clarinet at Xmas. Will I be ready?
A and C piece polished and thoroughly ready.
B peice needs a little polishing up (a few minor things e.g add more dynamics and a couple of slurs)
Scales and Arpeggios half ready, polished, in slur and toughed (major sc & ap). 1/4 need polishing up in slur (minor arpeggios). 1/4 i still need to memorise (the five minor SCALES)minor arpeggios
sight reading: just the articulation but most pieces articulation is okay (any G4 piece playing at sight)
aural: okay in ABD, C needs a little bit working on but otherwise fine.

Do you think I should enter? My teacher says I'll be able to get a merit for it, and if i work very hard i might be able to cross the distinction line, too.

I think that this is a question you and you teacher are best placed to answer.

Based purely on an objective assessment of what you've told us, and assuming no major event or other hindrance gets in the way between now and then, yes. And it sounds like Easter would be too long to wait. But I'm not sure what insight you're hoping to get from a group of people who have never heard you play that you can't get from your teacher whose opinion you already have.

However if you're merely looking for reassurance, then I'd say go for it.

From what you've told us, it's looking promising, but overall, sbhoa's sentence which I've quoted is the one you should take most heed of.

I just wanted to know whether if you were that pupil/pupil's teacher, would you enter/enter him/her

I don't know for sure : I'd need to hear you play, ViolinQueen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It would depend on how well I thought the pupil could learn.

If it was me as a pupil I wouldn't feel confident enough to get the scales sorted in time.
As a teacher I'd probably also expect scales to be further along than you describe at this point but you as I said before you and your teacher know your situation the best. The way you've listed minor scales as a whole separate bunch would make me less sure about them being ready in time.
