Am I doing too much? (rhetorical question, really)

The problem is, I am looking for a job but it probably won't be in my ideal area so have been advised to get any job (haha!) and do some relevant volunteering. So, I've got a few unpaid opportunities but most of these aren't fully confirmed. This leaves the dilemma of either being not busy (if none of these leads work out) which is fine but also it could mean being crazily busy! Not sure whether this is because I am feeling a bit desperate jobs-wise and so grabbing any opportunity which presents itself.

And doing application forms is just so depressing...

On the train this morning, crossing the King Edward Bridge on approach to Central Station...

Lady with suitcases: Is that the Thames?
Me: No it's the Tyne.
Lady with suitcases (sounding rather puzzled): Oh.

They were saying on the radio today that they're making sure all the royal wedding souvenirs have the happy couple's initials printed as 'C', followed by 'W'. Because doing them the other way round wouldn't be great...

finally got my gas & electricity direct debits sorted out. No idea where they come up with the figures for how they set these. At least I'm no longer paying the same amount as a family of 4.

Reminds me of when we went to Paris by Train and Hovercraft. You checked your bags in in London and picked them up again at Calais and took them with you on the second train. There was a lady sat opposite us on the English train, who was slightly annoying, kept trying to start conversations and could we make sure no one walked of with her belongings while she went to the loo. Nothing major, but we were heartlily sick of her by the time we got to Dover and glad not to be sat next to her on the French train. When we got to Paris we were just leaving the platform and she came rushing up to us and asked us where we had found our suitcase. She looked rather horrified when we said Calais! This reminds me of an incident when I was working on a test raft on the river at Newton Ferrers in Devon.

It was early November, and we had been on the raft for much of the day in fine, cold, soaking rain when a very wet looking walker appeard on the river bank. 'I say' he called out, 'is this where I catch the ferry for Newton Ferrers?'. My colleage who was a local, and a man of very few words anwered 'yes', and said nothing more.

About an hour later the walker appeared again, and this time called out 'I say, what time is the next ferry?' 'March' came the reply. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
