Fun orchestra rehearsal sight-reading Haydn Symphony No. 104, looking forward to playing first in that at the end of June (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I've got a very musical weekend with Clarinet Choir rehearsal and a Concert Band gig (summer music, love it or hate it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) tomorrow and then a chamber concert on Tuesday. The Poulenc is now sounding good to me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/woot.gif) - hopefully it will sit well with the piano now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I've been trying to focus on my Schubert for orchestra - am sure my neighbours must be getting sick of it! Have ordered it on cd but in the meanwhile I've been playing along to a recording on Youtube, which is faster than we've been playing it which should make it a bit easier at rehearsal!

now that Glasgow is over (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) time to get the Stalybridge piece up to speed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) don't think it needs too much work but we'll see what teacher says next week. In the mean time, I have the grade 6 stuff to play with, see which ones I (we) like and work on those. Done some work on part of the Mozart Clari Quintet Larghetto and a few bars in the couple of pieces from Mosaics.

Not doing the mosaics one now. It got put to one side as there were semiquaver passages in pieces I was playing which sort of served the same purpose. I dare say we'll come back to it some time.

Had a good chamber concert tonight. Bass clarinet sounded really good and our clarinet choir piece went extremely well. The Poulenc sat very well with the piano (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hurrah.gif) - except for my confounded C#/G# key which got waterlogged and ruined all the Ab's in the recapitulation!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

But it was well received which was good as it was definitely the most avant garde piece on the programme. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Probably the most common key to get waterlogged : it's not in a good position on the clarinet to drain any excess water. Have a look at the pad : there's a good chance it needs changing - very frequently, you'll need to change this pad ahead of any general overhaul.

I was hoping it wasn't the pad as I recently had it changed to cork. The clarinet was standing for about half and hour before the performance, when I'd played it in the rehearsal, so maybe the water had gathered then?
