Hello All!
Just wondering if I should play the repeats or not...I know the general rule is to not play them but the piece seems better with them? Hulk (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Hey, I played this piece! Do you like it? I did, though I kept on tripping over when I tried to get it up to full speed.
Anyway, I didn't do the repeats in the exam. |

No, no repeats in the exam - Tarantelle is long enough and repetitive enough, even if it is fast!
How's the theory, Hulk? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Thanks for the clarification everyone!
Yes I really like it anakrron, just started to play it so it's not up to full speed yet! Theory's coming along nicely noodle! I will be concentrating a lot more on theory because I can't do any more exams until I've did grade 5 theory, but that doesn't bother me...I really enjoy theory! I am doing this piece for my exam on Friday next - it is marked at a breakneck speed of 160 - I can play it at around 140, and luckily the notes say 132 -144 is ok for the exam.

Yeah, I think I only played it around 130-140 in my exam. The examiner commented that it was rather slower than the marked tempo, but I still got 27 for it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Lovely piece La Tarentelle.
Friend of mine is doing this REALLY quickly, with repeats, and barely reaches a minute! Very fast! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) But as mentioned, I agree with no repeats in the exam...unless they are REALLY short repeats? Like only 4 bar repeats would be needed in ANY piece? Well, isn't a Tarantelle supposed to be a really, really, really fast dance so that you can cure the bite of a snake, or something similar? I guess it should go as fast as possible while still sounding good.
