My friend and I are looking for some duets to play, for fun but maybe in a concert if we can.
We'd like something gypsy-ish and passionate. We're both grade 8 so although it doesn't need to be that hard, something at least fairly challenging would be more fun. It could even be something with an orchestral part if we can get our friends to help out! Any suggestions? |

I once went to a recital where a violin duet played a brahms hungarian dance number 5, I don't think either of them where grade 8, but it sounded impressive.

Definitely the Bartok 44 Duos, if you've not already encountered them. They progress from Grade 2-ish stuff at the beginning through to ones which challenge grade 7/8 players at the end, and are fascinating little nuggets, very rewarding to play (lots of dissonance (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
