I am an adult returner recently started lessons and trying to decide which exam to so at the end of the year (if any). I think I am quite liking the look of the TG Intermediate Certificate (violin) as it seems all about performance (which I am not v good at), and how you 'manage' your instrument. I think that working towards this may make me a better player than doing a grade 5 exam. I want to be able to play really well and am less bothered about being tested on my memory of scales and doing aurals (hate singing)
Can anyone help me with differences between these and the grade exams. Are they less highly regarded ...not that I will need them for anything but my own personal satisfaction.
I can already play ABRSM G5 pieces reasonably well there is a lot of time to improve them but when I look at the other aspects of the exam I am put off.
How do you choose Certificate pieces by the way?
