Never really liked pancakes, but thought I would be a bit creative to see if I can make them any tastier - anyone have any good fillings they want to share? I've got as far as various combinations of chocolate spread, melted chocolate orange, marshmallows, chilli powder, fruit...

We will be using Nutella as a filling in chocolate pancakes - normal pancake mixture but with a couple of teaspoons of cocoa powder thrown in. It looked like too good a recipe to miss.

Having said that, tomorrow is my late-work night, and tonight my husband has a company meeting, so in our household we are going to break with tradition and have Shrove Wednesday instead...

If you like coconut, this is what is often had for breakfast in Malaysia and Singapore. It's usually had with toast but is excellent with pancakes.

Chocolate ice cream - the chocolatier the better - and sambuca....

Failing that, my preference is good old fashioned lemon and sugar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .

That looks good, it possibly won't happen tomorrow as no energy for trailing round looking for the leaves, but coconut might be a goer in some form.

Caramelised bananas - well fresh bananas give me pain, but cooked would be OK... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Tomorrow is my evening class night, and OH's choir night, so we have just had Shrove Monday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Got to be chocolate sauce, although if I can manage more than one I may also have one with just sugar (I don't like lemon).

Years ago my Guide company did pancakes one night and one of the other girls had the strangest topping I have ever come across - undiluted orange squash!!

Any good supermarket sells Pandan leaves. I normally get them from Sainsbury as I love to make Pandan cake!. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

In some parts of London maybe - my local supermarket doesn't, and I'm in London. But I do work very close to Chinatown.

I doubt whether the local ones would sell them. My Sainsbury Local hardly sells anything and the things that they do sell are always more expensive than the main branch, so I prefer to do my shopping in the main store.

Either: traditional freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar, or maple syrup (warmed in the microwave - be careful not to overdo it though!)
