I'm writing up my PhD thesis at the moment - totally sucks. Doesn't help either that I keep being called into work. Have just spent my Easter Sunday, which I had planned to spend practising my music - had it all worked out what I was going to do - in work having to sort out a problem caused by someone else (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) I'm supposed to be working towards handing in my thesis in about 8 weeks time ha ha ha. Sorry about the rant, am so cross.

Good luck, Blackbird77. I understand your feeling, though I am nowhere close to done. What's your topic?

QUOTE(kerioboe @ Mar 4 2008, 07:53 PM) *

I wrote my doctoral thesis while working full time and got pregnant four times resulting in two children and two miscarriages. Not ideal conditions for writing a thesis but I finished it in the end (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

The worst thing for me was doing the index - if I ever have to do one again I think I will pay someone to do it for me (the index I mean not the whole thesis).

Gosh, that's amazing. What was the subject area, kerioboe?

It was on South African literature (so nothing to do with music). I also had to write it in French (which is not my mother tongue) and when I finished I swore that I was never going to write anything in French ever again. (Although I relented after a few years and have written a couple of articles in French).

And this being France, the viva (also in French) was with five examiners and lasted four and a half hours!

I loved writing my degree literature and especially enjoyed my MA thesis. I was also getting my teeth well into my PhD thesis seven years ago (on the Scottish writer and social narrator Rebecca West) when I became seriously ill and couldn't finish it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Now I'm thinking of doing another MA (in Fine Art) and am thrilled at the thought of another thesis and have lots of ideas.

Okay, I know it's hard work at the time but isn't a real achievement when you've finished (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And don't forget all you cram into your brain for it too - isn't it lovely knowing all that stuff!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Although being ill made me forget most of mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Good luck to everyone writing - it's all worth it in the end (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It's nothing to do with music, it's on parasites and I am coming very close to throwing computer out of window. I was aiming to submit in May but that isn't going to happen so I'm now aiming for June. I just need to have had my viva by September as I've already booked my treat!
