7/8 but also 3/4 and 6/8 when used together like in America from West Side Story......plus 4/4 when it's divided into 3+3+2 quaver combinations...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Have to be boring and say 6/8 the one I find the easiest to sighread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif). Which given I'm not good at sightreading, is a bonus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

The piece I'm concentrating on at the moment (Prokofiev 3rd sonata) is in 4/4 (12/8). I really enjoy the feeling of turbulence the frequent cross - rhythms create.

My favourite time signature is 5/8. Oh, 5/8 and I had some happy times together, let me tell you. That was back in the old days, of course, before the unpleasantness, and I've come to realise that I have to move on, but there will always be a place in my heart for 5/8. I think 5/8 knows this, but we both know it's too late now.

12/16, on the other hand, is nothing more than a little strumpet. If I never see 12/16 for the rest of my life it will still be too soon.

Well, I like 4/4 for how easy it is to count when playing!!

However, I also like 3/8, 6/8 and 8/8. I've had some quite nice pieces in 5/4 as well.

I put a composition into 6/4 for a section once - I will NOT be doing that again!!

I like 5/8 and 6/8 too - but I also like what a previous poster said, when 4/4 is divided into 3+3+2 - isn't that classed as 8/8 though? Or did I make that up?

Anything with 5/8 or 7/8 does it for me - love listening and playing. Makes me want to get up and move much more powerfully than 'ordinary' dance rhythms - bizarre! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)
