I have a question about the grade 5 viola scales. When slurred are they grouped in 2s or 4s? The syllabus says one way and the scale book the other.

You might be looking at an outdated book.

The 2012 syllabus allows slurring in two ways: long tonic, with two beats per slur (which works out as two slurs per octave), or even notes (four notes per slur).
