sure lots of us have been here from time to time!
I'm sitting dipp abrsm in December and I can pretty much play all the pieces, just finding lack of motivation to keep playing and refining! Also playing some of the pieces in public just to trail run the pieces, the last two times I performed a piece I played went well, but last week I played a pieces I thought I was confident with and didn't play well at all. I guess I feel abit fed up with the pieces I'm playing at the moment. |

Maybe try practising them in a different way. My teacher tells me to change the rhythm in certain pieces - eg something Baroque with lots of semiquaver runs, we alter the rhythm of the 4 semiquavers, - it makes you read the music more carefully.
Or learn the piece backwards - not quite literally, but starting with the last 2 bars and then adding one in front each time you've done it well. It makes you more assured with the tricky passages. (PS, this is with piano, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for other instruments) |
