I have been using this since about 2009 as it allowed me to register my business name and access my-email without any charge, amongst other things. From the end of April it will be changng to Microsoft Office 365, or something like that, and will charge a small monthly fee. I am using Nominet/Fasthosts for my domain name which is a small fee every two years. Can anyone recommend something where there is no monthly fee? Thanks.

Hi

I have also used Microsoft office live and have only just discovered that they are shutting it down today! I have tried to save my files to the computer but don't really know how to do it and a website downloader I have bought just can't "find" my website. I am completely stumped and dismayed. My website has been very succesful and I don't want to lose it. Oh dear!

The website http://www.microsoft.com/office/olsb/OLSB%20Home%20US.htm says the existing system ends on April 30th. At that time a 6 month free trial of the new system will be given to users. So that should give you some time to come up with an alternative.

My experience with people with degrees in computer science is that they are least able to write good code or design good systems (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

I e-mailed Microsoft on 29th March and have only just heard today. Unsurprisingly, in their words, they are experiencing high contact volume contact. I remember reading that they suggested hiring a professional to help with saving your website and e-mails. The whole thing seems to be a nightmare and so I ended up swopping to Fasthosts to keep my e-mail address. for a small monthly fee of about ?3.49. Setting up a website is included in that price. I hope you are able to find a solution, JulieMarie.

Slightly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/offTopic.gif) but closely related:

I am considering using a Cloud Exchange server, (subs being about a fiver a month), rather than running our own Exchange server. It seems like a good idea, but I think it will take a great leap of faith to give up managing our own data. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
