Yes I've done it with Noel Nouvelet... (7/8 and 9 year old boys)am considering it with Santa Lucia... again a boy. Maybe I need to be forceful(in a nice way)with the girls. Yes I usually write it out phonetically for my pupils. It is just confidence. What do you think an examiner's take on it is?

Yes I usually write it out phonetically for my pupils. It is just confidence. What do you think an examiner's take on it is? As long as they sound like they understand what they're singing about (which as a teacher you can also encourage) the examiner comments I've had have been favourable. "Sauveur Jesu Christ" for example is easy to translate. I'm considering doing Santa Lucia with my 8 year old son - it would suit the way he sings, and give him a real ego boost singing successfully in another language. |
