What's This Music? Options

This is really bugging me: does anybody know what this piece of music is? It's played by string orchestra and goes like this:

D G' F# G' Eb D Bb G Bb A C Bb A Bb A G
D G' F# G' Eb D Bb G Bb A C Bb A G
A Bb D C Bb C A F A C Eb D Dd D etc.

Each note is doubled.

Ring a bell with anyone? It's supposed to be called 'Dance of the Fairies' but this may be a translation from the Dutch. Who composed it? I haven't a clue. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

How can such a young child play like that?! What do they feed children on in the USA? Absolutely amazing, but somehow scary too - can the boy have done anything else in his young life?

I've only just seen your post, Nocturne! Thank you so much!!! How did you find it? I kept putting in Dance of the Fairies but of course couldn't find it; how did you know it was Dance of the Elves?

PS A point about such young children playing so well - perhaps it's best not to judge until we know what that child's home life is really like. Perhaps he just loves playing and spends hours at it without being made to - who knows? And actually he lives in Germany not the USA.

Another point, how many virtuosos would we have if no very young children practised their instruments for hours? Hardly any, and that's the uncomfortable truth. Yehudi Menuhin did virtually nothing else when he was a child; Heifetz started at 3, as did Perlman. We tend to delight in virtusos, but don't always want to think too hard about how they got there and what they had to sacrifice in the process. Actually I don't think this child looks unhappy - just focussed. There's another Youtube of the rehearsal and he seems pretty happy there. What I don't like is Anre Rieu's whole approach - I'm sure it's not good for the child to be paraded like that. But that doesn't mean it's necessarily bad for him to be able to play like that at such a yougn age.
