I have a 16yo girl learning this piece but in 6 weeks she's made no real headway with it, not even the right hand. She struggles to read the 6 sharps (plus B sharps and double sharps) and she's generally a good reader. We have been through: it's in the key of F# major, this chord here is B major, this is an F# scale in 3rds, etc. Basically this girl is lazy and she has GCSE's this term at school which doesn't help. She took G4 last Xmas and was determined to go straight to 5 as she wants to do music at A level, but so far all the pieces (not just this one) are proving a bit of a challenge and I wondered what I can do with her in the interim until she's really ready for G5?
