Hi everyone,

I've been doing all sorts of Googling, trying to track down the sheet music for Hugo Alfven's Skogen Sover for voice/piano but had no success. Has anyone any tips on sources of difficult-to-find music. It's such a lovely lovely song. Anne Sofie von Otter and Barbera Bonney have each recorded it on CD, but I'm blowed if I can find the music for it.

Any advice most gratefully received, thanks.

Hi Amber,

Try asking through Warblers. They have been really helpful in finding me stuff in the past, even getting me a specially printed copy of something that was unavailable at the time.

Good luck with the search.

Is it worth e-mailing the Swedish Music Information Centre to ask whether his work has been published and if so by whom? This may well give you a lead to follow up.

Hi Emma and KatyJay,

Many thanks for your replies. I have sent emails off to both sites. Fingers crossed that one of them can track this lovely piece down.

Hooray! I have it my hand (well not actually, I've had to put it down so I can type this)!

Thank you for your suggestions. I obtained a wonderful collection of Alfven songs through the Swedish Music Information Centre, as per KatyJay's suggestion. And I emailed them to say, yes I was interested in buying it and could they give me details of how to pay etc. The next thing I know, the album's turned up in the post this morning, with an invoice. I can't tell you how nice it is to be sent something on trust. Payment was easy, the invoice explained how to pay via the website, so I just went in and did it. So I've got it. I've got this lovely lovely music.

I'm very happy!

Wow! Well done Amber! Any chance you can bring it to Leicester, I'd love to have a quick look at it?

You mean, you can't type and hold music at the same time? Tsk!

Sounds like you've some lovely music in the offing, Ambs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
