Fingers crossed! Don't worry too much about the repertoire, you can't exactly change it now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fingersCrossed.gif)

As for Fantaisie Impromptu...... I think it sounds ok.......until I listen to Katsaris and Yundi Li's fingers flying over the keyboard and end up feeling depressed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

They don't expect you to play to that standard for ATCL! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thank you so much everyone, for your wishes. Right now I am in the " look, why don't we skip this and do it in December" stage.

My date has changed. They kindly offered me Friday the 13th (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) While I am not superstitious, I really don't want to attempt my first exam in 25 years on this date..! So I opted for Thursday, 12th July.

I'll let you know how it goes. If nothing else, it will give me an idea of the do's and don'ts of a Dip exam

I took the exam yesterday. I'm afraid I didn't do too well. There was a power failure and I was shunted between two different rooms so I really didn't get a chance to get mentally tuned in- and it showed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Missed the descending scale runs on Chopin's FI and made a couple of glaring mistakes in the Mozart Sonata.

What I've learned is - never start your recital with anything as complicated as FI. A slow starting piece would probably have helped me settle my nerves and thats what I will aim for next time around.

The rest was fine, I suppose. Schubert's Impromptu was ok, so was the ending - Song without words. But my jittery start is probably going to cost me a pass (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Well- there's nothing to do but wait for the outcome, which I think I already know. I'm going to focus on working through some of the repertoire at the same level, which is what I wanted to do , in any case, even if I passed.

I was shuttled between two rooms across an outside courtyard, with no power failure, however it was snowing...

Both will almost certainly have been spotted and noted, but it's not necessarily critical by any means.

Interesting : I think that depends on instrument/what you're like as a person. I left my most difficult ATCL clarinet work until last, and that was a big error, in retrospect.

Don't assume that you've failed : there's a good chance you haven't. I largely binned the second (of two) movements of the Bernstein clarinet sonata - but did enough elsewhere to achieve a pass - you may well have done the same in the Schubert etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

All the best for a successful result, vee (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piano.gif)
