PS> just e-mail me if you have other problems on theory (because i've got the answers for Grade 6,7 and 8 book too). And i love theory so much  !!

Cheat!

Nat, one way to spot a harpsichord is the long trill in bar 9 (Ex 8), which is idiomatic to a harpsichord, but not a piano.

I reckon that THEORY IN PRACTISE book is way too difficult....many questions such as listing works and specific dates for them is not going to be tested in the real exam...

However, it's great to know all the specific musical informations from the book but don't always take it seriously.Believe it or not the Grade6 and Grade 7 theory exam are actually very very very easy...but Grade 8 is at a much deeper level, so i sugest you to skip grade6 and do grade7...i think you'll need quite a lot of time from grade7 to grade8 so the stratagies are to save time in doing grade7
PS. I spend 3 weeks to get to grade7 from grade5, I spend 1 week to finish the grade6 book then 1 week to finish the grade7 book and the last week it's great to do lots of past papers!!Believe it or not, it really worked and i got merit -88/100 for my grade7).

Pianist 1210
What you don't tell us is how much you already knew and how much was totaly fresh material for you to learn.
Starting from the point of being competant in theory at grade 5 (scoring distinction) grade 6 is NOT easy unless you are already able to manage figured bas realisation, harmony and copmosition at that level and have had some study of orchestral scores.
It is only easy if you already know the stuff.
(I found grade 7 difficult and got distinction 90/100... so comparing our scores what does that say? seems you only found it as easy as I did really)

Most people moving on at this stage probably have not already covered this work.

Natalie, is it the Theory in Practice books you are using?
Are you aware that there are some syllabus changes since then?
I think that the book is still good to work through, but some of the questions are a little different now.
