My inlaws have just sent me some flowers as a get well present, as I haven't been very well.
The trouble is the bouquet included white chrysanthamum. Don't they know that in the rest of Europe that's what you would put on tombstones. I wonder whether they want me better... or dead! |

Strangely enough one of my pupils who's stopped lessons this half-term to concentrate on A2 exams, prior to moving to Uni in September all being well, brought the same for me (+ a few other, more brightly coloured flowers) the other day as a "thank you" for all the help I've given her in the six years we've been together.
I don't think the UK sees white chrysanthamums in quite the same way otherwise, Jod, it's you and me both for the chop!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Hope you soon feel better - nice of the "in-laws" to remember you I'd say. Don't think mine have ever sent me flowers in all time I've been married. |

If it's any consolation, I wouldn't have a clue what kind of flowers to give to anybody for any occasion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) let alone for things like leaving teachers for uni (any idea what flowers I can get, PM me) or get well soon presents!
I was sent to the flower shop to get flowers for someone who had a baby, and when the shop person asked what kind, I said "erm.... alive ones please (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)". I know two basic differences between flowers: dead or alive. Not that I can ever keep them alive, but you know... |

I didn't know it's traditional to put white chrysanthemums on graves. I love chrysanthemums, and quite often buy them for the house - white ones wouldn't put me off buying them. Sorry to hear you've been unwell, wish my in-laws would buy me flowers of any colour or kind to cheer me up - yours sound very kind. |
