Oh Gawd...Burgmuller. This was a piece that has been set for G4 in the past. Burg's MM speeds are rather over the top...see Easier Piano pieces- Publisher:Associated Board.
But hey! Where would us teachers be without him? Fancy thinking it is about a snake. The title gives it away. It's about dancing/sweating out a spider's bite. If I was bitten by a spider,I wouldn't be playing a piece of music... I-Looney...read the Rules and regs...no repeats,...and that includes 4 bars..only Da Capos...I reckon your friend is really You! Good Luck sitting your G5. |

Lovely piece La Tarentelle. Friend of mine is doing this REALLY quickly, with repeats, and barely reaches a minute! Very fast! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) But as mentioned, I agree with no repeats in the exam...unless they are REALLY short repeats? Like only 4 bar repeats would be needed in ANY piece? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) IrisH - LoonY There is no way anyone could play that with repeats in under a minute! That would mean playing it twice. Do you think we're that gullible? |

Semele, believe it or not that's a common misconception about the spider bite, it says on the notes in the ABRSM Grade 5 book that,
"'La Tarentelle' is a tarentella, a folk dance from southern Italy whose name is derived from the town of Taranto (not from the tarantula as was formerly believed)." (I thought it was about a spider as well) It also mentions the composer's metronome marks often seem to be rather excessive...stating the obvious... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Yep...it's a dance that takes its name from the sourthern Italian seaport of Taranto....the bite is harmless, but did you know once gripped in it's jaws,it never lets go. |

Absolutely no repeats whatsoever?
Well if someone practises with repeats doesn't mean one will do it in the exam does it? IrisH - LoonY |

What part of 'no repeats' do you not understand? No! So what about a recording of your extra fast friend for the Forum users website? If he/she's that good I'm sure he/she won't mind. |

I wonder if Etude in Gold played it that quickly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif).

Now now, you two.
Etude_in_Gold was a misguided individual whose unfortunate resemblance to 50 other equally genuine but confused people contributing to these forums, was entirely accidental. He has gone elsewhere; any resemblance between his identity and that of anybody else here is entirely coincidental.
