I just thought I'd start a thread to count down/wind up to singing Dip D-day....

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif) 2 weeks today I shall be relaxing with a beer and looking forward to some new music! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif)

Haven't managed practice tonight, but had a 2 hour lesson yesterday and first run through with my accompanist on Wed. Feeling a bit more confident after that. Tomorrow I have 2 military parades and then family stuff in the afternoon, but hoping to manage some practice in the evening. Sunday I MUST as:

Monday I have a public recital in the cathedral of the whole program start to finish. I hope and pray it will be OK and I don't fall apart anywhere. It's only on one rehearsal with accompanist (!!) so anything could happen, with nerves in the mix too. Figure if I can do that, I can do the real thing in front of just one examiner after a few more run throughs.

Just hope we get a audience, it's the first event I've organised in Gibraltar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Oh and I've changed the order, it's now:
Blute Nur
As When the Dove
Batti Batti
Solveigs Sang
Villanelle
Pie jesu
Du meines Herzens Kronelein
Sleep
Monk and His Cat

Flows much better, more broken up tempo wise and so gives me a bit more rest between fast ones. Also lets me take the note for Du Meines from Pie Jesu which will be cool (thank you thouston for that idea!)

Wish I could be in Gib to hear that!

Enjoy the occasion, forget the nerves - and perform!

Hope it goes really well on Monday! Make sure you enjoy every minute of it, because these opportunities don't come every day. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks to you all - and yes, I think I will enjoy Monday after the first one or two items!
After I've done my bit I've opened it to Nathan's other exam students (including my daughter) so will be a full concert.

And I want to say a special thanks to Wendy, you know why xx

Thanks to you all!

Managed over an hour practice each day over the weekend, and lots of reasearch. Mostly there on that front, which is good as for the long weekend (we have next monday off for the Queen's Birthday) I am away and will have no internet, just my written notes to memorise. I also have military band engagements Tue/Wed/Thur this week so no chance of work there either.

Am I ready for tonight? Not really! I'm going to have to introduce/describe each piece, and that's something I've never done before, I'm not great at speaking in public, but I guess it will add to the pressure. Then I'm comparing for the other singers too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Fun bit is I have no idea whether there will be 20 or 200 in the audience!!

I am hoping that after this the actual exam will feel quite relaxed with just one face looking at me!!

Yes, hope it goes well! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
If you are worried about the introductions, write down a line about each piece on a sheet of paper to use as a memory-jogger. You don't actually have to use the piece of paper - just have it there to back you up. And if you do have to resort to it, you can joke about having a blonde/senior/nervous moment, which will break the ice nicely (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

LOL I've got it all written out - wasn't sure whether to give a handout initially, but had no clue how many to print! I haven't been able to memorise it so I'm just going to have to use the paper, or I'll waffle too much!! i'm not good at making up things on the spot so we shall see....
