Solari, I agree - I can't help but read anacrusis with a "bad German accent as done in English war film" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I will miss it when it is gone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I vish to zee your pepers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Of course those of us who are really sad, who hang around on railway stations and in organ lofts, (and who wear anoraks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) ) remember our ASCI codes, so we don't need the letters on the keyboard.

If you hold down the Alt key, and then enter 097 on the numeric keyboard you will be rewarded with the letter 'a'. Alt 098 gives you letter 'b', and so forth until you get to Alt 122, which is 'z'.

If you need upper case letters, simply use Alt 065 (A) through to Alt 090 (Z).

This system also makes it easy to use non-standard or foreign characters, which are not included in standard British keyboards; for example:

Alt 0181 = ? (Backwards u or Micron symbol)

Alt 0176 = ? (Degrees)

Alt 234 = Ω (Omega or Ohms)

(Some of these may not display properly on the forum.)

I uze the International Keyboard layout vvhich allovvz me to do all thoze other characterz - the Umlaut, and the one vvhich lookz like a beta, accentz, and Icelandic thorn and eth....it uzez Alt-gr and punctuation markz to adjuzt letterz: hovvever, my normal typing zpeed iz about 60vvpm, and again, all theze alternativez are juzt too zlovv, and vvould drive me batz to have to labour out. Zorry to thoze vvho might vvant to read my poztz, you'll juzt have to put up vvith it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif).

Az everyone vvho knovvz me vvell vvill be avvare - I'm a fluent German zpeaker and ken du a faultlezz tcherman ekzent vvhen zpikking englizh anyvvay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rofl.gif) (though my real Englizh accent iz lezz eazy to zhoehorn, regionally zpeaking, beyond, erm, probably zouth).

Tee hee! Useful for pub quizzes, but I think I might stick to touch typing for my day-to-day forum posts work.

Hey yes thats it...

I think Solari and others have finally sussed out anacrusis' other, secret job - sending coded messages about the French Resistance back to Gestapo Headquarters in Berlin, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Honestly, I do understand how frustrating it must be for you anacrusis. But when I saw Solari's post of the Herr Flick picture from Allo Allo, it sent me into such a fit of giggles I laughed myself into a ztitch....and it still hurtz.
