Could anyone suggest some flute duets (classical rather than contemporary) for approximately Grade 5 standard, please?

Thanks in advance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Voxman Selected Duets for Flute vol.1 is a good resource. I was going to recommend another book, but have just found it is out of print. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Have a look here for some more ideas: this list is graded. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The voxman books are very good and I tend to use them at the ends of lessons for a bit of sight reading.

I have just bought this book: (IMG:http://www.musicroom.fr/images/catalogue/productpage/GS33016.jpg)
which is full of 'proper' duets. It contains a quite a few sonatas for two flutes which are very pretty! They aren't too hard and probably around grade 5/6 standard if you intend to learn them but too challenging to use as sight reading. THe great thing about this book is that is has two seperate books in it - flute 1 and flute 2. Neither has both parts.

Another book I just bought was the trevor wye duets book 2 which also has works written origianlly for two flutes by famous composers but written out in one book which some people find much easier.

Wow - plenty there to keep me going then! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks for these suggestions - I plan to make use of some duets as "filler" material while I continue working on my Grade 5 pieces / scales.

Two weeks to new flute day (hopefully!)

Im not a flautist, but I know there are some duets by Mozart, sometimes played on recorders. I have also heard the same ones played on other instruments

I think bk 2 might be a tad too easy for grade 5, but they are nice all the same. Clardy Classic Duets grade 4-8
Clardy Classic Duets bk 2 (Tele/ WFB/ Qu/ Dev etc) grade 6+ I think this one is quite nice

I remember looking at the books and thinking that book 3 looked easier than book 2. They aren't impossible for grade 5, nor are they very easy. Though you could have them sounding very nice within a weeks worth of practice or so depending on the pace you learn at etc.

Agree with you there bk 3 is a lot easier, but the pieces are longer
