This is me attempting to do a version of Jefferson Airplane's Somebody to Love (sung by Grace Slick, who I love)...

I am not used to singing in a more full voice (I tend to go floaty and light a lot and don't know how to properly use my chest voice...or mixed voice)...so...

Give it to me straight. Is this terrible? I still don't feel I'm truly singing OUT and loud...*sigh* It frustrates me greatly.

Thank you!

I'm no expert, so won't even attempt to work out if you're singing out and loud or not! But it does sound good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thank you!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It FEELS like I'm singing loud and pushing myself, but when I hear it back, it sounds kinda one dimensional. Like I'm only using 60% effort, when it feels like 110%...and technically, were I doing it RIGHT, it shouldn't feel like such an effort or like I'm pushing so hard. Hmm. I was going for the original Grace Slick fast-vibrato vibe. lol

I think it sounds great but you could probably be singing more strongly if you wanted to. I think it requires a different set up than you're using at the moment - it's quite difficult to explain. You need someone like Dugazon or Rosfrog who have expertise in this area of contemporary singing and would be able to explain it better. Or perhaps you could invest in a few singing lessons with a teacher who might be able to help you?

I would agree - but Rosfrog has left the forums completely, and Dugazon is posting much less... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
If you want Dugazon's opinion (and I would definitely recommend asking her!) try pm'ing her, as you will get a quicker reply. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A teacher specialising in the area you are interested in would be able to help you a lot more, in a short space of time though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I like your voice though - it sounds good!

Rosfrog hasn't deregistered, though - I just checked. Maybe you could send a PM. E-Mail.
