When no level is stated for these events, what would be a suitable minimum level? I'm wondering what I need to aim at before I think about coming to any of them. I'm working towards Grade 1 at the moment so I have rather a long way to go!

Many of the events will take people of all levels. Looking at your details, I see you're not that far from Teddington, you would be most welcome to come and play there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Absolutely right.
There is generally no minimum level, the exception maybe being playdays and some large ensemble items in concerts which aim to be as inclusive as possible but sometimes have a (fairly low) minimum level because of the nature of ensemble playing.
Even then people are usually welcome to at least sit on and have a go even if they can't manage to play every note.

If it's any help, I played my violin in an ensemble at an event having only had the instrument 2 weeks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) It seemed to work okay. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Oh wow! This is great. I'll have to see if I can get to something - Teddington might be manageable. Thanks, all of you.

No problem.

Usually, the date for Teddington is announced towards the end of the previous year : once AmandaL and katyjay get the dates they can hire the venue. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As I have done this year, barry-clari will go on tour during the (allegedly) sunnier months in 2010, so the offer will be there to meet up to either play music/do touristy things/eat out etc.

My intention this year is to cover the following areas : PM if you want more details...

Somewhere in Scotland, TBC, Northumbria/Tyneside/Durham, Gloucestershire, Northern Ireland, Somerset/Devon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think I may muster the courage to play something in Teddington... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Short & secure will be the plan though, I think - I felt like I was flying by the seat of my pants in my pupil's concert playing longer pieces...

For the 'other events' listings, I would very much appreciate it if other forumites can let me know of events, particularly string/brass/double reed/piano/singing, as I don't have the contacts in those areas as I do in clarinet/sax/flute/recorders.

Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thank you to Barry, for many informations.

I am... probably ok to attend to Woodwind Day on 23 Jan 2010.
Bring an oboe and a Cor Anglais (I hope), looking forward to see many forumites. (Especially I will not be able to come to SE orchestra day in Nov this year.....!)

Any news for Teddington....? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Wonderful! Shea always puts a good event on, and this year lots of forumites are planning to attend. All being well, see you there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Katyjay and AmandaL are still waiting to have the date confirmed for Teddington. As soon as they know, we'll know! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif) - on both posting the form, and the cor anglais! It's good how it's half price entry for double reeds, isn't it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Do let us know how the meeting with the cor anglais goes! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Indeed! Such a surprise of half price for one day course.
Already I am looking forward to attend to it. It is whole day workshop, so nice to learn many technical skills but also to meet new friends! (very important!)
Of course for a drink afterwards?

I let you know Cor Anglais story tonight! I am off to Howarth this afternoon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
