Stand in front of it and say aloud "You are me. You are beautiful. I love you and you are worthy of a life on this earth". Then you must say "I will face up to these people. They are nothing to me. I will hold my head up high and be proud of who I am and what I have achieved

How can I pretend to be something I aren't?

Everybody is something to someone!! You must have loads of people tellling you you are good at something. I take it that is you in the middle of your photo? You have a beautiful face to start with and you have two children who obviously like being with you. Focus on this and HAVE FUN!!!!!!

They arent my children, they are two people who are special to me.

It is me and I dont look nice at all.

I don't think that Charlies Aunt was saying that they were your children, just that there are two children who obviously like being with you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Oh sorry (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I took it wrong. They are just children who have grown up with me being there.

Soph, that is what grown-ups do all the time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Am I right all the grown-ups??????
We all pretend to some extent, especially when we are uncomfortable, out of our depth, don't have enough knowledge for the situation or don't have enough confidence. I do it all the time. People think I am a confident and good Mum, but I still feel that I am playing at it! At work, patients can ask me about really difficult things, like "where do I go to when I die?", and they're not religious. I am floundering, and trying to look and sound professional, and be comforting but not patronising. WE ALL ACT.
Once they see that they have no effect, they will stop.
Beverley.

Absolutely right! "All the world's a stage and we are merely the players" Something like that anyway! In other words, everyone is pretending they are something they're not.

Yes, but I have done that and dont know why they do it, the only reason they could have is that I am fat. If I wasnt they wouldnt do it would they?

I think maybe it's just a lack of confidence on your part, and in part you're trying to blame this on weight. The human mind has a nasty habit of trying to rationalise everything, and try to find something on which to blame whatever it is that's upsetting. It's quite common for girls of your age to blame things on weight, but it doesn't mean it's the cause. As such, losing weight won't fix the problems, and what often happens is that people who take steps to lose weight then get very upset when all their problems are still there. I mean, if you want to lose weight, and you're above what might be considered healthy (I don't know you, so I have no idea) then by all means take sensible steps to lose weight if you want to - healthy diet, exercise, etc. - but don't think that it will fix the other problems.

But, I digress, as others have said it's a lack of self confidence that is causing your upset at the moment. Year 11 can be most unpleasant - surrounded by those who really would rather not be at school given half a chance. Try and hang in there until your exams, then next year will be better as those who want to have left can do so.

So the reason they treat me like I do is because I lack in confidence and dont believe in myself? Whenever I put myself down, they feel they have to as well? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Yep, that's right. They see that you already lack confidence so they don't have to work as hard making you loose even more.

That's what I do, I pretend I have confidence. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Ben, you get on great with everyone, how do you pretend to have confidence. I am that pathetic I cant even pretend I do. You enjoy performing, for me I dont, I like music and enjoy it, but performing is hard and I have to force myself up onto the stage to do it. I wish sometimes that I had confidence and that people would leave me alone instead of having a go.

How can I pretend I am someone I arent and how can I pretend I have confidence when I have none whatsoever? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I do it every time I play the piano and someone is listening. Amazingly most people seem to believe it too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) .

Sorry that you are having such a hard time. I'm not sure that I can offer much help, apart from saying again that from your profile picture you are a nice looking girl so please don't think of yourself as not.
