QUOTE(Czerny @ Jul 8 2012, 07:27 PM) *

There is now a link to an extensive apology and explanation for all the problems on the homepage. They say they don't know what caused the deluge of calls this session, but I'm sticking with my original hypothesis. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Thanks for mentioning this.

I note that it says they won't have enough spaces for everyone who still needs a reschedule. And they haven't said what they will do if they fail to find a space for a candidate. Will they offer a refund? Or a free entry next season with some sort of priority booking?

But would it be reasonable to expect it except in the cases where they had sent an exam appointment for a date that had been specified as unavailable at the time of entry? I don't think they do offer a refund in these cases but I think that they ought to and if it's not possible to avoid these dates the option to withdraw should be given before any appointment is issued and the cheque not cashed or money refunded.

I'd never noticed before that "expect" is an anagram of "except". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

No me neither- only email I've had is one from ABRSM in reply to one I'd sent them, stating that they're not able to reply to any emails!

Written by someone who has been to their school of management-speak. There are no "problems" only "issues that need to be managed". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif)

When you get management-speak responses it's a downward slope which usually ends in tears.

Whilst not neccesarily disagreeing wih what others have said, if you were Guy, what would you have said in your email (not supposing for a minute that he actually wrote it... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) )?

I got both of those. No problem, fortunately, with appointments or (so far) results, but obviously they haven't been able to deal with other types of request, even though mine was originally sent before they had been seen to have problems; I'd asked them if they could please deal with one candidate direct by post instead of through me, and please take my name off the certificate. I got the mark-sheet and the certificate, still including my name, delivered to me on Friday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I suppose that as someone directly affected by this term's problems I'm interested in action rather than apologies. I've read so many apologies but they are meaningless when the time could have been spent doing something productive about the situation. I find it sad that it required a strongly worded letter of complaint before anyone was even prepared to talk to me - once I'd sent that, a free slot suddenly materialised.
