Hi,
I was just wondering whether anyone has any tips for me regarding Grade 8 exam practice and solo concerto appearance playing. This probably would be better answered by a string player i.e violinist? I 1st started learning the violin when I was 11 years old and when I was in Y9, aged 14, (Xmas last year) I went for an interview at Chet's but although I was of Grade 6 standard I was not asked to go back and fully audition. I was mega miffed and really annoyed that I played rubbish there! Though, instead I did something that I'd always planned on doing and rather than giving up violin, I took up the viola. I have been playing now for 11 months and I am working at the Grade 8 exam!!! Yip. I have also been asked to perform Telemann's viola concerto with the local amateur string group (the usually old string boffins) in December a week before Christmas. I have also been asked to audition to the Junior RNCM by one of the viola teachers there, and if I want he would prepare for an audition at Chets as a violists - he himself being a viola teacher at Chets. So what I wanted to know is, any tips for viola Grade 8 at concerto appearances. James (14) |
