I found a fantastic shop for new sheet music whilst I was on holiday - it was only small but they crammed masses of music into it, and also a really good range of musical gifts and accessories. I can thoroughly recommend it if you're in the area - it's a bit out of town but well worth going to - Gillian Greig Music just outside Taunton.

Has anyone else got any music shops they'd like to recommend people to visit if they're in the area???

(NB. If you have any recommendations for shops selling *second-hand* sheet music, there's a separate thread called Great Little Shops for Second-hand Sheet Music (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

I always go to Chappells for my sheet music (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Or if it's flute music, there's All Flutes Plus and Just Flutes quite near me.

I always go to Music Room (formerly Percy Priors) in Salisbury, which is good for sheet music and beginner instruments. The name may have changed but the staff are still as knowledgable and helpful as ever and it's easy and quick to order any music they don't have in (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I can thoroughly recommend it if you're in the area - it's a bit out of town but well worth going to - Gillian Greig Music just outside Taunton. Unfortunately they don't sell online at the moment, although they will sell by post.

Gillian Greig is my second favourite music shop - 2nd only because of distance. It takes me half an hour to get there, and 15 mins to get to my favourite one. If you want to buy from them you can fill in the query form on their website; they ring you within a couple of hours with an answer and you can then order over the phone. They're quick and efficient, and I always love a trip to the shop. Highly recommended. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My favourite has less stock than Gillian Greig, but still has more than enough to choose from - it's the Clevedon Music shop. I've shopped with them for years, and they've always treated me well. Half the shop is given over to selling guitars, amplifiers etc so there's something for everyone.

Sanders recorder shop is in Bristol, skylark. However, I think he is giving up the presence on the high street and will be runing the business from home. If you check out the website, it says there what his plans are.

The web site says they're finishing on the high street at the end of September so I've left them off the list, thanks for the info.

I'm not sure which town All Flutes Plus and Allegro Music (Herefordshire) are based in - can anyone confirm please?

Thanks for the additons, and if anyone wants to correct any of the info in my first post, please feel free to let me know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If anyone from MIR is reading this, WHyyyyy did you ahev e go and close your Worcester shop???????????? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

That place was excellent. They even had a springer spaniel to play with while you were waiting to be served. They still have a Stourbridge shop, which I would imagine is excellent

LOL, remember when we got lost trying to find it and had to peg it across Taunton for the train? That was quite funny...

Also Duck Son and Pinker in Bath, which is linked to Milsom & Son's, on Milsom Street / High Street, Bath.

It's WELL cool.

Mann's Music in Colchester

Helpful, cheerful and quick - I only know them from ordering by telephone for music to be sent to France but their service has always been very good.
