I think piccolo simply means small doesn't it? I am certain I've heard of piccolo trumpets :)

Yep, I've known someone who's surname was 'Lopicollo', literally meaning 'the small'. She was diminutive, too.

Seriously, some loon invented a "reverse" piano keyboard with the high notes at the bottom and vice versa. Why, I don't know!

Yes, there certainly was a left-handed piano in the news a few years ago. It was about the time No 3 son (who is left-handed) was starting piano lessons.

A piano with 15 octaves.

You'd need a piano stool on casters!

I read about that - it was a concert pinaist who was left handed and decided to get a custom piano. He loved it and, strangely enough, he could play from memory on his L handed piano whereas he had always had to use music before! An old friend of mine plays piano and violin, but doesn't like the piano because she's left handed.

Aparently lots of teachers tried the l handed piano to get a feeling for what their L handed students go through.
