I don't even have it yet, let alone know how to play it (but you just have to blow down this tube, right?? and put your fingers over some holes?? Yeah soon get the hang of that!!)

So thinking already of ensembles and repertoire can any of you experts please recommend some books of easy duos for descant and treble??

thank you !!! :D

There's a Kevin Mayhew-published one. Lots of well-known tunes.

Look on the Mayhew website for details:here (I think). Late student due any minute - haven't got time to check.

Colin Hand does some good easy recorder books - Come and Play Book 1 and Book 2 for descant or tenor, with piano accompaniment. Available by mail order from from Peacock Press, Scout Bottom Farm, Hebden Bridge, HX7 5JS Tel 01422 882715.

For duets try Alison Lewin's "Postcards" for two descants (or tenors) with alternative part for treble recorder. Available by mail order from Hawthorns Music The Hawthorns, Hawthorn Drive, Wheaton Aston, Stafford, ST19 9NQ. Tel 01785 840186, email hawthorn@hawthornsmusic.co.uk

Both are helpful with advising material suitable for your needs too.

I think both books are around £5 plus p&p.
