Ha! I had 4 hours of those this morning (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif)

Hayfever - Not had it this bad in years. My eyes are streaming, itchy and puffy, constantly sneezing, whole face is itching and almost feels swollen.

Commiserations - it's been a bad year for it. The newfangled nondrowsy antihistamines don't work so it's the old-fashioned groggifying ones for me.

Just had a phone call from cleric at church. I am not happy, in fact I'm distinctly upset. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Hay fever not too bad for me, on bad days, cetirizine seems to work far better than any other medication I have tried. Loratidine has no effect on me whatsoever.

Oh, both will work for me if I take 4 times the dose! But I suspect that's not recommended....

Doesn't sound good. Shouldn't clerics be encouraging?

I don't normally post in here but had a rubbish lesson observation yesterday - me being observed teaching. It was chaotic and very stressful - all the planning between me and the school music teacher to ensure it went swimmingly, ie children coming for their lessons on time and even doing some re-ordering the day before went to pot! Have now found out that I have to have another observation in September ... will try to engineer the timing better next time.

Well, the event passed off without too much going wrong - in fact most of it went well, except where the cleric sang at the wrong time (making it look as though we hadn't got our brains in gear).

Have had restorative glass of wine and forbidden sticky cake - never mind the waistline. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Terfenadine was the best for me - no side effects and it zapped it. then they outlawed it.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

By my standards, this year has been relatively OK hayfever wise...

Just looked it up - apparently it was something that got metabolised to fexafenadine which *is* sold as an antihistamine now. Have you tried it? I haven't, but maybe I ought to instead of just relying on the old groggifying ones...

This has been a terrible year for hayfever for me, and I think Matthew has had it for the first time too. My eyes have been that bad it's been as if I've had constant conjunctivitis since April!

The very hot summer of 76 was my O Level summer and that's what triggered it in me (hot weather, not the O Levels - at least I don't think so!). It was less commonly recognised then and people thought I had a 'summer cold' so I had no treatment for it. My then GP (probably in his 50s then) didn't believe in symptomatic relief and wouldn't prescribe nose or eye drops.

Until about 3 years ago, I was triggered by tree pollen in April and suffered right through to about late September. The last few years, it's not kicked off until about June and faded by August.

However, last two weeks my eyes have been giving me trouble even with the eye drops.

I'm wheezy all the time at the moment. Being hayfeavered means I'm more bunged up than usual, which then sets the asthma going all the time.

Loratidine works better for me than Cetirizine.
