Well I've drove 40 miles today in a MGBGT V8 and it was absolutely fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Roads are no where near as bad as they were in Dec 2010

What - no going sideways round corners? I'm disappointed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

We've not had snow here (~well, just about a sprinkle) there might be some remnants of ice about - mum says she has some snow on the ground in south/mid Cheshire. I'm about to find out....

The only car I've ever spun in was my MGBGT (not a V8) - one touch of ice and I was facing back the way I'd come! That was over 20 years ago and I've been a complete wimp about icy roads ever since (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)

I rolled a VW Nova on black ice; I was left hanging upside down by the seatbelt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) That was 20 years ago too and I'm in absolute agreement with you - I'm a complete icy-road wimp (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) (I now drive a tank with tractor tyres and still refused to go above 60 on the motorway today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )(and we had no snow at all up here!!).

Thanks, Baz...but apparently stress hammers the immune system which is why I'm ill AGAIN. Feeling so rough - think may have to call doc out tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) .

I just spent the weekend with my Mother-in-Law. We had a nice enough time chatting and doing old-person things.

But I took my old dog, a whippet, and every time I walked into the room the dog was smacking her lips (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) On querying my MiL she said she'd given the dog a cracker, or a dog treat, or a Rich-T biscuit/prawn cracker/toast/bun.......! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Judging by the increasing piles of little crumbs on the floor this was going on every time I left the room despite my repeated requests she stopped feeding the dog!!!

By Sunday morning the dog had stomach cramp and refused her breakfast and then proceeded to entertain me on the 3-hour drive home with the stinkiest bottom-burps imaginable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) followed by a considerable deposit in the garden (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Aaaaaaaagh!!!!

But at least the dog feels better now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

LOL I did that in an MG Midget once, over pushing it around a roundabout (not in ice) car hit some diesel, spun it and buckled the rear wheel, got it over to the side of the road and changed the wheel. While I was doing this a Land Rover went right into the back of a VW Polo, it was horrendous ... luckily there was only one person in the VW and they were fine (if a little shaken).

Then the cops came and skidded on this diesel ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

B's are absolutely fine in snow / ice ... saw plenty of modern stuff getting stuck yesterday, my little B V8 went on without complaint through it all ... had to be a bit careful on the loud pedal though ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Car headlight problem,. Put a new bulb in ystrday, and that doesn't work either. Have to trail to Chester his afternoon for Rybrook Vovlo to sort out. (PS it reached 100,000 on Saturday, but I will be parting with it end March when I retire, Ive had 3 S80's one pertol and two diesels and they've been very reliable on the whole)

I'm at the end of my tether with practicing from my neighbour. And I feel I can't say anything because I hate argument and of course I practice myself, the difference being that mine goes on for a limited and predictable time, and not in the evenings, AND I'm always worrying about who I might disturb! Theirs happens frequently throughout the day and evening, is loud and tuneless, and as I work from home is driving me bananas. I'm tying myself in knots over it and am contemplating taking up midnight morris dancing in retaliation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Oh god - you don't live next door to me, do you?

We've just had a snow day off school and I've been practising loads.

No, don't worry, it hasn't been happening today at all! It's just been a noisy weekend and I'm stewing over it. I just need to get my assertive head on and deal with it like an adult (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Enjoy the rest of your snow time!!

Meh, so I speak to my father today while at work, at which point he tells me that my mother is in hospital, pretty ill. Not sure when he was planning to tell me this... apparently he didn't want me to worry!

Well of course, I promptly get very worried, end up in tears in the middle of the nice big open plan office, dramatically sobbing all over one of my colleagues. (Perhaps my father was very astute?!) One of them then drives me home, as he didn't think I was safe to drive (frankly, I probably wasn't).

Its just the shock. From what my father says, it isn't anything very very seriously wrong, and my mother should be able to go home to recover this evening. I just wish there was something I could do, which didn't involve being a melodramatic, overreacting twit. Not only am I worried about my mother, (despite best attempts to keep things in perspective), I'm also rather embaressed about going to pieces at work...

Hope your mother recovers quickly. You don't need to be embarrassed: you got unexpected news about a person you are close too. Hugs to you too.
