Hi

I'm thinking of taking a DipABRSM diploma in instrumental teaching. One of the requirements is an essay of about 1800 words. Has anyone done this exam and how many books/articles did you read as research for the written submission? (Or did you just follow your intuition and not use this kind of material at all?)

Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks.

Thanks, Margaret.

That's helpful. No, 1800 words doesn't seem very much - particularly after having had to write much longer essays at university. I'll try to track down some relevant articles/books etc...

I've just done the teaching dip myself, havent got the results yet though so I dont know if my written submission was any good. However, preparing for this really made me reflect on my teaching and I learnt a lot from it. Even if I dont pass, it was a worthwhile experience (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The exam is very enjoyable as well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
