Hello, I really need some help!!!

It's my birthday coming up soon, and i have a decision to make.... should i ask for a flute or a saxophone (probably alto). I need to consider.... costs (looked on ebay and flutes are cheaper), which is easier to learn, as i dont plan on tking lessons in this instrument, it's just for fun!!!!
I would like a sax because its soooo s3xy and i love jazz. And I would like a flute because I think they are beautiful and I could use it in church. It's sooooo hard to choose!!!

Please help if there are any woodwind players, or anyone else i would really value your opinion!!!
Luv Char xxxx

Maybe you could have the other instrument for Christmas? It wouldn't be too long to wait.

Hiya
I play both flute nd alto sax. Both r really cool, the flute is harder 2 blow 2 start with but once you've got the hang of it it's quite simple. I agree wiv Natalie and think u shud try both. Begginer sax nd flutes r proberly around the same price so give um a go.

i'm not sure about this because I play neither the flute nor the sax...im basing my opinion on how the students at my school play!!! so u may/may not want to take my opinion into consideration. not that u have to, but here it is anyways.
i think that the people who play flute at our school in the band are WAY better off at it than the saxes and they've been learning for the same amount of time!!! but then again, the people who play flutes practise more at home (mainly girls) i think. but i still think the saxes aren't doing as well.
ok there it is. but then again, i'm assuming uve probably already played another instrument so that shud help.

You can get pretty good jazz effects from flute too! It drives my teacher mad cause I keep trying to play my grade 8 baroque pieces with jazz quavers!

Personally I prefer flute, but then, I've never tried sax so am strictly biased!

I totally agree with Tamsin... flute can be really jazzy... Have any flute players tried Jazz Singles by Russel Stokes??? I LOVE all of those peices.... I really like the flute but I've only tried my friends Sax once... it seemed really hard to me but she says it's easy... so maybe its diffrent for everyone... or I'm not used to it... anyways... good luck!
