I take it everyone knows that you can buy a CD which has all of the 18 piano exam pieces on it - a CD for each grade- so at least you know what the piece is supposed to sound like! You can get one for some other instruments too. Sorry if this is ridiculously obvious.

Yes, they are very useful Belinda, but I wouldn't take the performance on the CDs to be 'the definitive way to play graded pieces'. There needs to be an element of 'imagination' (for want of a better word) in the performance, trying to do a carbon copy of what's on the CD is in my opinion inadvisable, though the performances on the CDs are invariably decent performances. Welcome to the forums Belinda, hope you enjoy using them! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

The other option is Hong Kong radio on http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/program_archiv...+Exams+2005+%0A
This is a series of radio programmes where each exam piece published in the books (i.e. not the alternative pieces) is analysed and performed. I've found them very helpful. Karen (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
