Many thanks to all who recently wished my father well after he suffered a "slight stroke" at the beginning of April.
I'm sad to report that Dad passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, aged 95 years. He'd had a varied and interesting life, different jobs and many hobbies and pastimes, although music, strangely, was not one of them. He often said of my interest in the subject that it a skipped a generation......or ten!

This is to send my deepest commiserations. I have never been in conversation with you personally, but have read your posts with interest. I'm sure you have many happy memories, and hope you will enjoy these as time passes.

In sympathy,
Patricia.

Sorry to hear that diapason. Although 95 is a ripe age to reach, I guess that is little comfort right now.

Aww, you have our sympathy Diapason. My father is only a couple of years younger than that.

Every sympathy, Diapason. 95 certainly is a wonderful age. I lost my father when I was still at school, but my father-in-law died a couple of years ago and that feels quite recent. He didn't make 95 though. Will be thinking of you.

Sorry to hear this, diapason. It's almost exactly a year since my father died, aged 91. Being an only child I had no-one to share all the memories with me, and it's taking me quite a long time to come to terms with his death, despite the fact that he was very old. I don't think it matters how old they are when they die, it's still a hard thing to deal with.

I think jmhamilton is so right - it actually doesn't matter how old a person is when they die, the loss is still just as great.

I lost my mum 18 months ago and it's still hard to cope with (she was 83) - so every sympathy, diapason.

My husband lost his parents when he was 17 and 26 (his mum was only 47) and he still talks about them and has many memories.

The memories can be very bitter-sweet but hold on to them in your heart.

Thinking of you at this time. Your dad reached a wonderful age - but whatever age they reach, it's never easy losing a dad. Deepest sympathies.
