I'm listening to Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty at the moment...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I have a saxophonist friend who refuses point-blank to even listen to that song these days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Oh no, even after all these years, I still think the sax solo in Baker Street is great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

In the case of the Pink Panther, they play music all the way through each cartoon : there's generally, with just a few exceptions, very little dialogue in any Pink Panther cartoon (in the original series, he only ever spoke in 2 cartoons - there's your useless fact of the day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

Ahh, I see (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and I'll remember that-just the sort of useless fact my dad comes out with, I'll astound him with it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I've met Nick Chalmers (he plays the organ at my mother's church, where I make an annual appearance for Midnight Mass). Now how many musical celebrities within 3 degrees of separation does that make?!

This evening I've brought down a box-set of Shostakovich The String Quartets by Fitzwilliam String Quartet, and will put one on in a minute. Just looking through the accompanying Decca catalogue of box-sets rouses, still, some hope of further purchases, probably the solo piano pieces of Brahms or Chopin.
