The amazing Karen Geoghegan playing bassoon pieces by Hummel, Weber, Elgar...

I had the great privilege of hearing her live two weeks ago (her mum Lucinda is a friend and colleague of mine and Karen came to the BKA Summer School to play). I loved her on Classical Star but in the flesh she is even more brilliant - she makes that instrument absolutely sing.

Gorgeous music, gorgeously played.

And here; better on tv than on the radio.

What was that thing a few minutes ago where he appeared to be waving his arms around an aerial?

This concert on BBC iplayer. It features some young musicians from Manchester, and dates from the 1970s, I think. I wonder if any of them are still playing?
