Has anyone seen this? What do you think? I only heard about it the other day, came across videos of some of the acts on the internet. It seems to be a bit like X- factor or American Idol or something but people can do other stuff besides sing, and its not restricted to people over 16. I dont think I can watch it from where I am, but will be keeping track of whats going on. Did anyone else hear that amazing 11 year old singer that was on it last week or so I think? Video here....

yes she can sing but i do think that she would be better off sinigng something nice and simple without the big impersonation of something big like that.......she has a whitney type voice which OK I would agree is an amazing talent to have but I would much rather listen to an eva cassidy style performance simple pure sweet voice than something like that

just my oppinion!!!

She was awesome, in a slightly scary way, but I do fear for the long term safety of her voice. Also what will happen to her once the music industry get their hands on her. Call me old-fashioned but I think kids should be able to enjoy their time as kids - I fear she will be forced to grow up all too soon. And it's happening already - look at the choice of song. Personally I would have preferred her to sing Over The Rainbow or something of that ilk.

That girl can YELL. There was nothing musical or tuneful in that performance and the choice of song was wrong for an 11 year old. Like Amber, I would be concerned for her voice in the long term - if she keeps going like that, she won't have a voice by the time she's 16.

It was... scary. Yes, she has a big voice. But I can't say I enjoyed it much. And I agree with the others, one wonders what will happen to her voice if she's encouraged to keep singing that way.

Then hand me an old-fashioned hat and call me Gladys! I am a firm believer that the shorter the childhood and growing up period, the less-balanced the individual (a generalisation I know, but it seems to hold true a lot of the time).

Can I jump on the old-fashined bandwagon? I always think it's so refreshing to meet children who have been allowed to be children: I know I have been appalled occasionally to see children wandering around my town who, from their make-up, clothing and attitude have appeared to be in their late teens or even early twenties, only to take a closer look and realise that under all the make-up is a 12 or 13 year old who has grown up too quickly. I remember being horrified when I saw a girl who can only have been about 11 wearing jeans with something highly suggestive (I forget exactly what) embroidered across her backside. A paedolphile's wet dream you'd think, I cannot imagine what her parents were thinking (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) If I should be lucky enough to have a daughter one day, she'll wear clothes like that over my dead body at that age.

She shouts like a full grown undervelopped pop singer - there's no control and no technique (her larynx was practically jumping out of her head when she was screeching her high notes - of course this is how most pop 'divas' insist on trying to sing, so in that respect, she's got it just right.) Her voice won't last without training and at 11 she shouldn't be singing any songs that are outside of her emotional range - how can she sing about break-ups if she's never been in a relationship? Not to mention the overt sexual overtones in a lot of pop-music - it's plain wrong for children to be singing about that kind of thing because it should be (please god) outside of their realm of understanding.

Furthermore, I'm in the old timers camp too - I believe children are encouraged to grow up to quickly (especially by wretched American style reality television nonsense). Even the (rather fabulous) website 'violinmasterclass' has some children that are way too young playing amazing violin works - part of me feels 'well done children' and wants to celebrate their talent, whereas another part of me screams 'put the violin down and go and play outside, rip your new clothes, get dirty knees, steal apples and get told off for it'.

Sarah, Boo - if we're all adopting old-lady names, I think I'll have one too.
