I'm tackling this piece next- but i've only heard a short bit of it. Has anyone done it? What do you all think? I wonder what grade it is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

The composer is Charles Williams and it's from the film " While I live"... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I was quite shocked when my teacher started playing this, it sounds very technical (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Jenny

Have you got the sheet music for this?.

I'm 30 something (more towards the 'something rather than 30) and I remember my mother playing this piece when I was a child. I think it's by Charles Williams(??) from a film score. I wouldn't mind having a go at it, do you know where I can get the sheet music?

I was searching for the Dream thread and came across this instead... fsm I've got the sheet music for Dream of Olwyn - is there any chance of you playing it for me when we next meet up?

I sometimes play the melody part on my clarinet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Glad you like it! In true David Mellor fashion... if you liked that, you might like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FnuD-8m70Y...feature=related - it's the Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell from the film Dangerous Moonlight. It starts off dramatic, but turns to a haunting melody at around 1'50".

I've got a CD called The Classic Romance (not connected with Classic FM) and it's got on Dream of Olwen, Warsaw Concerto and some other lovely pieces like Rustle of Spring and Limelight, as well as some more well-known pieces that were used in films like Rachmaninov 2 (Brief Encounter) and the Adagietto from Mahler's Fifth (Death in Venice) and loads of others. It's a lovely CD if you like that sort of music (which I do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)). It might be out of circulation now though because it's quite an old one - the code is CDP 7987052

That sounds like a brilliant CD!!!! Just like you, I love this type of music!!!
I've done a search on the web but unfortunately it's not in circulation anymore (not even on e-bay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ).
Netherless I found Amazon sells Cds for Warsaw Concerto and Dream of Olwen!!! I'll search further to find other CDs that include the pieces you mentioned (Rustle of Spring, Limelight) as I also love those!!!
It's always such a great feeling when you discover new pieces of music that you really love!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Its on Naxos...Movie Themes. Dream of Olwen, Warsaw Concerto, Legend of the Glass mountain, Cornish Rhapsody. As for Sindings 'Rustle' thats also on a Naxos piano collection...and is one of those pieces famed for sounding really hard, but not being too difficult. Though i think it's quite tricky, but a really fun piece. It's sad that Sinding is a one hit wonder, because he wrote some other very good pieces.

Thanks Chopinzee! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I found both CDs so now looking forward to listening to them!!
The only piece I knew by Sinding is his Violin Concerto No.1 which is on the same CD as the Sibelius Violin Concerto.
