Thanks guys for the well wishes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I was really really nervous... My fingers were trembling and I could not play properly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Really disappointed with myself..

It's my first piano exam ever.. Started learning the piano last february.. Started preparing for Grade 4 exam this year.. It has been 6 long yrs since I ever sat for any kind of exam and I felt really stressed and nervous..
Really disappointed with my performance cos it seems that all my hard work has gone down the drain (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Trying not to be too hard on myself.. I guess I should be happy if I can pass

ps. There was a little girl taking the exam and she was asking her mum what examination is?!?! hahaha How I envy her then (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Hello Euphonium!
Poor you! They say that some nerves are a good thing but it's horrible when your so nervous that it affects your performance.

Just remember that the examiner will want you to pass and am sure will have noticed how nervous you were.
Also, It's usually never as bad as you think! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well done you for progressing so quickly to Grade 4 since last February. If worst comes to worst you can always re-try, at least you'll be prepared for those pesky nerves!

(I've got to re-try part of my Diploma this Christmas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) )

Hello

Don't be too hard on yourself. I too suffer from the same problem when doing exams - trembling hands. I did my G1 when I was 7 and not a bit nervous. Decided to carry on with the exams 40 years later! Despite the trembling fingers have now got to G5 and just passed the G5 theory with merit. Managed to get a pass on all the other grades but passed G5 exam second time around so if you don't get it - just have another go. I am trying to decide now whether to enter G2 violin exam. That would probably be the bouncing bow syndrome in the exam!

I hope you get the result you want but if you don't just take it again!

Not at all! Nothing that you do with music is ever wasted. You will have practised harder than usual on your pieces, scales etc and your technique will have come on by leaps and bounds. The mark is the least important part of the exam experience. A lovely bonus if you do well but not an issue if you don't. I hope that you are pleased with your result, but more pleased with yourself for having the cougage to try. Well done.
