Having been away from the Forums for some time ... have I missed anything in the East Midlands or is there insufficient interest?

I'll be doing a forum concert again in the West Mids on 6th November if that's any good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi Lois,

I'm new to the forum, and have just had a browse through some of the forum events that take place throughout the UK, the West Midlands and surrounding areas in particular. Having never attended any events to date, can you give me some details of what the event involves, and what grade would be acceptable, as I've only just returned to my violin after about 10 years, when I reached the grade 3/4 level, and I have now picked up at the grade 2/3 level.

I recently began to have lessons again, but would also like to attend events that feature mature beginners such as myself, so that I can build up my confidence again. I noticed that there is an event scheduled for 6th November in Birmingham, which would be ideal for me, but are there any other events or groups within my area that you're aware of? It would also be useful to know exactly what the event involves, the application process, costs etc.

Many thanks for your help (or any other helpful forum member)

This is the webpage for last year's event : this year's is likely to be similar. There's a thread about last year's event in the events forum.

Hi, I am a beginner sax player - at the ripe old age of 48!!!! Would love to play with someone! Would I be suitable for the day in Birmingham. If so, where is the form I need to complete? Sorry just trying to work my way around the forum. Thanks clare

Sadly there won't be a Birmingham event this year but keep an eye on the events board for something else you may be able to get to. Most concert type events have no minimum playing level and beginners are very welcome. Playdays where it's like a half or all day band session sometimes advise something like about grade 2 as a minimum playing level but organisers are usually willing to advise on an individual basis and will do their best to cater for as many needs as possible.
