OK, so we all do stupid and annoying things at orchestra, but how many of us have been fined for it?!

These are hilarious!

Ouch. $185. Not counting laughing at conductors jokes (as they ARE funny) and foot tapping. Friend and I engage in bell waving instead, which isn't listed, unless it counts as univited conducting?

Well, I'm not in any orchestri, but I do have the annoying (so I'm told!) habit of tapping my bass pedal in between songs at band rehearsals - not actually hitting the head, but just waving t he beater around... It makes a very satisfying clicking-and-squeaking sound, which apparently the other band-members don't like... Can't think why!!

The last time I played in any classical-type ensemble even remotely resembling an orchestra, however, the conductor (who also happened to be my clarinet teacher) got sooo frustrated with my foot-tapping that he asked the person sitting next to me to place their foot on top of mine!!

Looks like I need to speak to the bank manager to arrange a loan to pay off my fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yes, I am that person who follows the adage "Take three pencils to rehearsals, one for you and one each for the person either side of you".

Me too!!!!

You can usually tell a piece of music I've played by the copious amount of scribble on it (and I've got large handwriting)........

Hmm. I used to be of the "Take a box of 10 pencils - the whole section will need them" variety.

I've often played in orchestras where the conductor has brought pencils for everyone!

Hehe... I tend to go with "Take a pencil for yourself... And several permanent markers, for if the rest of the section ask if you have anything to write with!!"

Well - it's their own fault for not bringing their own stuff!
