3 simple questions for you all.
  1. What would you dedicate?
  2. Who would you dedicate it to?
  3. Why to the above two

1. A book
2. My parents
3. Because they've both written books and dedicated some of them to me.

I have written poems and compostions in the past and dedicated them to people, but a printed book is still to come... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1. A scruffed piece of manuscript
2. My friend Tess
3. Because I will never end up composing sucessfully and my friend Tess is always there for me when i get frustrated, so i'd give her my life's work.

I dedicated a concert to the memory of my dad as he died 6 months before I did the recital and he'd been looking forward to it since it was booked some 12 months earlier....plus he was really my first piano teacher, and my favourite duet partner, and I used to lie awake in bed as a child listening to him practising Schubert, Beethoven and Brahms...... Oh wow, that is so touching. Oh and I love your signature.

I would dedicate a piano piece to my little cousin because she is one of the people I care about most in the world and she's been going through a hard time recently. It would be a piano piece because she's just started playing piano. She played violin for a few months, mainly because I played violin but really didn't get on with it. Now she's started playing piano because it's my other instrument. the piece would be something simple enough for her to play herself.

Thats so moving.

I would dedicate the song i am writing to my closest friend because it was written about him during my toughest time.

Happened a couple of months ago.

1. Performance of Bach Prelude in F# minor
2. Paul (who I don't know, but he's the son of a friend of mine)
3. Because he was beaten so badly in a sectarian attack in Belfast (at a barbecue, with friends) that he went into a coma from which he has not yet awoken and - it is becoming increasingly clear - probably never will. The introduction to the piece concluded: "I won't tell you what side of the sectarian divide he was on, because it doesn't matter. But I will say that if there is anyone in this audience who judges people first and foremost on their religion, their colour, their background or their sexual preferences, this performance is not for you."

If you think this was a cheap shot at emotional manipulation, I have a horrible feeling you're right. If you think more positive things about it, please don't tell me, because for some reason I can't explain it will just make me angrier.
