Do anyone know the different between polyphonic and part-writing?

Mmmmmmm... well ............... polyphonic means many voices and refers to a style of music where each voice or part moves independently of the others.
Part-writing is how you handle the various parts in any style of music, I think. So it could refer to the SATB voices in block four-part harmony (which is not polyphonic in style). Don't know if this clarifies a bit ?? Maggie |
